Axis Airways

Do you remember this French airline? Originally called Axis Airways and then rebranded as New Axis Airways. The airline ceased operations in December 2009.

One of a kind - Monarch B767

I've already made reference to a former aircraft type operated by Monarch. Now it's time for another, and in this case to an even rarer: the B767. For about 5 years Monarch operated a B767-300, registered G-DIMB. This was a 1997 built B767 delivered to Airtours, then transfered to MyTravel Airways, and after operating with Monarch ( in 2010) it was re-registered G-TCCB with Thomas Cook Airlines.
The photo bellow was taken at Gatwick in 2009:

The odd A300F

Just a quick memory of 2008 when we had, as a regular visitor at Porto,  this Icelandic registered A300F, flying with U.A.E.  Maximus Air Cargo colours, operating in behalf of Air France.
TF-ELE  A300-605RF  Air Atlanta (Maximus Air Cargo)
TF-ELE  A300-605RF  Air Atlanta (Maximus Air Cargo)
TF-ELE was re-registered the folowing year as A6-MXB. As for the flight itself, Air France still has a weekly flight to Porto on wednesdays, operating with one of its own B747F.

Israel's only A330

Last month Airbus announced that a MoU with Arkia for 4 A330-900neo. Israel is a traditional Boeing playgorund, let's call it that way, so I was a bit surprised with these news. Yet, when delivered, these won't be the first time that the "4X-" prefix will be used on an A330.
Back in 2008, Israir operated A330-223 c/n 822 with registration 4X-ABE, leased from Italian airline Eurofly (former I-EEZM), on a hybrid colour scheme. This aircraft used to fly on the lucrative route Tel Aviv - New York, in competition with El Al, Delta and Continental.

TAP old colours

Created on March 14th 1945, TAP is Portugal's flag carrier and it just turned 70 years old. From the 21-seats DC-3 to todays modern Airbuses, an array of aircrafts joined and left their fleet. Here's a quick nostalgic look into TAP old colours:

Lisbon 08/03/2015

A quick view of last sunday afternoon visitors at LIS. A reference must be made to the fact that there were 2 special guests that were not photographed (I left just before their departure): a Lufthansa Cargo B777 and Montenegro ERJ-195. Some other day...
The grey SATA was the only one I had never taken photos of:
CS-TKP  A320-214  SATA
KLM sent something a bit more special for their regular afternoon flight:
PH-BXO  B737-9K2  KLM
EC-JZV  CRJ-900  Binter (Air Nostrum)
That's it for today, have a great weekend!

Lisbon 07/03/2015

Last weekend we had a taste of Summer. Temperatures passed the 20ºC, it felt really hot, and I spent some quality time at airport. First "client" of the day was a regular but with a new coat of paint, arriving from CDG:
G-EZDO  A319-111  easyJet
Even though I've seen it before, this's my first photo of the ex-Continental B757:

One of the 2 Turkish B737 we had that day:

BestAir A321 TC-TUC

So far I've been twice to Antalya, in 2009 and 2010. The 1st trip took place in April, far from the busy peak Summer season, but already with some Russian traffic and charters. Of course that when visiting a foreign airport, the "local stuff" has to be a priority, and during that 1 week trip, the most remembered Turkish registration spotted was TC-TUC. A321, c/n 614, TC-TUC was at that time part of the BestAir fleet. It was however leased at the time to Atlasjet and operating on their own colours.
TC-TUC  A321-231  BestAir (Atlasjet)
This is one of 4 photos that I've took of TC-TUC. A few months later and BestAir would cease operations. As for the TC-TUC, it was re-registered as TC-ETN and flying for Atlasjet, a registration spotted on the 2013 trip to Istanbul.

DHL B757 with old colours

An every weekday operator, in both Porto (where the photos were taken) and Lisbon,  the DHL planes are one of my favourite airlines to photograph. Nowadys wearing yellow bright colours and a German registration, let's remember that it wasn't allways like that. This photos were taken in February 2008 and they show the previous colours and also the former Belgian registration:
OO-DLP  B757-236(SF)  European Air Transport
OO-DLP  B757-236(SF)  European Air Transport
This particular aircraft, c/n 22179/24, is former British Airways G-BIKH, and nowadays has the registration D-ALED of EAT Leipzig.

Air Nostrum little Dash

Operating under the Iberia "umbrella", Air Nostrum is a busy regional Spanish airline with bases in Madrid, Barcelona and Valencia. Anyone who has been to Spain for planespotting, has seen their turboprops and jets. Some time ago, I found myself thinking if Air Nostrum still operated the Dash-8 300... Well they don't anymore, since 2011. For the good old times, here're a few pictures of them:
EC-IIA  DHC-8-315  Air Nostrum
EC-ICA  DHC-8-315  Air Nostrum
Some of their Dash were Dutch registered, as they were leased from Denim Air:
PH-DMU  DHC-8-315  Air Nostrum (Denim Air)
PH-DXC  DHC-8-315  Air Nostrum (Denim Air)
A total of 19 of this small turboprops were operated by Air Nostrum. I also recall that there was one, on the later years, operating with Nigeria airline Arik Air colours...
